St Ann’s provides primary education for children from the communities of Deepcar, Stocksbridge and Penistone; mainly but not exclusively within the parishes of St Ann’s and St Mary’s.
For ages 4 to 11 we offer a continuous rounded education, encouraging an understanding and following of the teachings of Jesus. In an age of so many conflicting messages, we believe this to be the ideal way of creating a stimulating environment where children feel secure, become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective, caring contributors to the World of tomorrow.
Enthusiastic staff and volunteers deliver a creative, broad and balanced curriculum as well as a range of after school activities that give your child further learning opportunities. This means our pupils are highly motivated and open to the importance we place on teaching skills from the National Curriculum allowing children to be well-equipped for life.
This environment is bolstered by our connections with the local parishes, the town community and the World through our work with The Catholic Fund for Overseas Development (CAFOD).
As parents, you play a vital role in the success of your child at school. You can help them by encouraging not only their school work but their interests; playing with them, listening to them and working with them at home. By working together we can ensure that the years your child spends at St Ann’s will be very happy, fruitful and memorable.
Parent Consultation evenings give you the opportunity to discuss your child with their teacher, and of course you are welcome to make an appointment to come along and talk to me or other members of staff.
St Ann’s Catholic Primary School became a Voluntary Academy on the 1st of December 2013.
The principles, policies and mission of the school remain the same but we believe Voluntary Academy status has given me as Head teacher, the Leadership Team and Governors the flexibility and impetus to continue our steady growth and advancing standards.
